Hats off to Stetson

THE BRAND THAT INVENTED THE ICONIC COWBOY HAT CELEBRATES 160 YEARS OF MADE IN THE USA

American apparel lags behind Europe where there are a number of centuries-old brands. Naturally, this is because America is a younger country. Still, there are a handful of brands here in the US that are 150+ years old. To wit, Brooks Brothers, 207 years; Woolrich, 195 years; Johnston & Murphy, 175 years; Levi Strauss & Co., 172 years; The Frye Company, 162 years; and Stetson, 160 years. While each has earned global recognition, the list gets even shorter when considering which can claim to be Made in the USA. With the others outsourcing to Europe, various Asian countries, and Mexico, only Woolrich in Pennsylvania and Stetson in Texas have bragging rights to manufacturing here, save for some imported raw goods.
