Joanna MacDonald proves that beautiful things can be made beautifully — for people and for the planet.
This October, Piper & Skye celebrates a decade in the handbag business — a significant milestone for a brand that has quietly carved its place in the responsible luxury space. Founded by Joanna MacDonald, the label began as a solo venture in a crowded accessories market and has since evolved into a rising name in sustainable fashion.
MacDonald’s path to fashion was far from conventional. Born with a cleft lip and palate, she recalls the glossy pages of fashion magazines not as sources of aspiration, but as reminders of a world that seemed closed to her. Handbags, however, offered a different kind of entry point; one that was free from sizing, judgment, or exclusion. “Handbags fit everyone,” she said.
