While certain factions have shied away from diversity, those with creative flair know that when multiple influences come together, the result is often an original and captivating design. The fashion industry recognizes this in its collaboration movement; the melding of different creative brand DNA often results in a refresh of beloved codes. For Himba Fashion, a dance-centric shoe brand founded by Zilda Vicente — French by way of Angola — melding her native African Himba culture with French savoir-faire and elegance has yielded a similar result in her footwear designs.

Officially launched in 2020, Himba Fashion shoes arose not just from artistic vision but also necessity, as Vicente struggled to find fashionable dance shoes in her size 41.5. Her background in dance and entrepreneurship inspired her to enter the fashion footwear market, naturally integrating influences from her life: a design with a dance-specific metal arch support, African textiles, and Parisian sophistication.

This synergy of needs and experience represents the foundation for the unique shoes she would go on to create.
