How would you describe the current state of the designer handbag resale market?
There has never been more demand for preowned luxury handbags than there is today and that demand continues to grow. That said, there have also never been so many options available to satisfy that demand. While FASHIONPHILE was the only destination off eBay in the early 2000s, today there are not only mega-sellers like The RealReal and Poshmark, but thousands of mom-and-pop consignment shops who have opened Shopify stores online and even more micro-resellers live selling on TikTok Shop or WhatNot. Classic, iconic bags like Hermès, Chanel, and core Louis Vuitton styles continue to sell well and hold value, while trendier or mid-tier bags are moving slower and often at lower prices. Overall, younger buyers on these platforms are looking for a bargain, but they also appreciate the environmentally light impact of resale. It’s clear that timeless pieces are winning.
