Anna-Karin Karlsson

Celebrated eyewear designer Anna-Karin Karlsson was recently honored with the annual Accessories Council NOW Award during Vision Expo East. This prestigious recognition pays homage to her status as a trailblazer in the world of luxury eyewear, where she continues to push boundaries with her innovative and artistic designs.

Karlsson has redefined luxury eyewear, creating frames that are works of art. Known as a leading brand for opulent, avant-garde eyewear, the collection is a masterful blend of glamour, bold femininity, and exquisite craftsmanship. Based in Sweden, the collection is sold in more than 50 countries and has captivated fashion-forward clientele with its use of the highest-quality materials, from 24k gold and titanium to hand-set crystals, pearls, emeralds, and even diamonds.

Art is in her DNA. Her ancestors in the north of Sweden made intricate “hairwork” jewelry using human hair, a tradition that started as a way to honor those who had died, but also provided a revenue stream during hard economic times. Today, her relatives’ work is on display in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. When Karlsson was invited to sell her glasses in the museum’s gift shop, it brought things full circle for her.
